"Christmas Wishes" Scrapbook Layout + Process Video by Louise - Kaisercraft "Mint Wishes" collection

 Hi Crafters

Louise with you today.

I must admit, that I generally scrap last years Christmas photos when the new Christmas ranges arrive.
So when I saw the Kaisercraft "Mint Wishes" collection, I loved it immediately.

"Christmas Wishes"

This collection would also suit a variety of applications.

Paper tearing seems to be my go to technique at the moment so I decided to make a really big hole in the backround page and use the awesome wood grain paper for the backing.

To add a little more "mint" to the background I've used the Tim Holtz Distress Oxides.

I love that this layout is so neutral and soft with that bright pop of colour on the photo.

Here is the process video if you'd like to watch or check out the technique used to apply the Distress Oxides.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Christmas

Hi, it's Ann here today to share a Christmas card I have made using a gorgeous mini stencil by Kaisercraft.

I was inspired to make this card by a card made by Jill Foster for Penny Black, the link to which I've tried unsuccessfully to find.  However, if you know Jill's work, you may recognise the light behind the tree, a style that comes through in many of her landscapes, and this is what inspired me.  I also did not own the stamp she used, but amongst Kaisercraft's mini stencils, I found this gorgeous Flourish Tree! And now I've discovered Deco Gel and gold foiling, there was no stopping me from attempting a similar look!

This view shows that glorious foil shine!

Card tutorial:
  • Create a top folding card (mine is blue) by cutting an A4 sheet in half long ways at 10.5cm.  Put this aside.
  • On a white card panel 9.5 x 13.5cm stencil the tree towards the top using Deco Gel.  The trick here is to cover the stencil with a light, even coating, carefully remove the stencil without smudging, put aside the panel to completely dry (hours or overnight - till it looks clear) and wash the stencil and palette knife immediately.
  • Now to foil:  get ready by heating the laminator for about 15 minutes so it is really hot - of course if you own a Minc machine or similar you follow the maker's instructions. Prepare your now dry panel by cutting a piece of gold foil to cover the tree - shiny side up, place inside a folded carrier sheet - I use baking paper, with a spare piece of card stock placed up to the fold to create a base for your card.  Run through the laminator fold edge first.  Allow to cool - this doesn't take long.
  • I highlighted the swirls of this tree by using a Tombow pen to draw shadow lines and then sponged with DI or Distress Oxides in this order:  centre of tree - Shabby Shutters, moving out, Cracked Pistachio, Broken China, Salty Ocean.  I then stamped some pine branches (from Kaisercraft Merry Christmas stamp set) around the upper edges using Memento Northern Pine ink.  To add further depth, I finally sponged Memento Paris dusk around the very edge of the card.
  • To create a night sky effect, I stamped little stars in white ink, and added very many white dots with a Signo pen.  I also went over the stars, as they had faded a little when the ink dried.
  • To finish this panel, cut a hill shape from white card 9.5cm x 2.5cm and stamp the sentiment (by Waffle Flower) in Versafine Onyx black ink and Broken China Distress Oxide.  Adhere this 'snow hill' to the bottom of the front panel.
  • Mount completed panel on white card 10 x 14cm (to contrast with the blue base) and then adhere to blue card base.

Thanks so much for visiting today - and good luck with your own Christmas cards!
