Pine cones and needles

Hi everyone - Ann here with my last Christmas card for this year!  Hope you are all well on your way with your own cards, and are getting ready to enjoy the festive season!

My card uses one    stamp set which includes a spray of pine needles and a pine cone for the images and another Kaisercraft stamp set for the sentiment.

I sometimes (often) have difficulty arranging how my images will look on the finished card, so this time, because there were dies included, I found it very helpful to stamp and die cut several branches and pine cones, so that I could physically move them around until I was satisfied with how they looked.  I'm happy with the final arrangement and particularly like the soft colour palette.

I started with a woodgrain background stamp in Memento Toffee Crunch for the card base, then stamped the foliage (a 3-stem branch) repeatedly to create a flow across the top of the pre-cut white panel. To add interest to these branches, I used a few Memento green inks - inking up all over the stamp with Bamboo Leaves, tapping a little Cottage Ivy on one side, and finally a very little Northern Pine at the tips.  I have seen this technique called 'rocking or rolling' as you are essentially rocking the stamp over several inks to achieve a more realistic looking image.

A single branch was stamped at the right bottom, off the page, and then a pine cone.  I stamped the cones twice, first in Toffee Crunch, and then in Rich Cocoa to the centre only.  The top cone is popped up on foam dots.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and gold heat embossed, so I felt a little more gold was needed, and added the gold foil strip and little bow.  As I often do, I added another branch and pine cone to the inside of the card.

Dimensions:  card base 26 x 10.5cm folded to make a top-fold card
Front panel:  4.5" x 3.25" (approx 8.3 x 11.3 cm)
Gold strip:  0.5cm

Thank you for taking the time to visit today and I wish you all a very happy Christmas season!
