You are Amazing!

Hello everyone!  Ann here today with a birthday card for a dear friend - and it is all about flowers and washy colouring - well that's what I call my watercoloring!

I have used Altenew's Peony Scrolls for my images, and Altenew's Amazing You for the sentiment.  My colour comes from Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers and I stamped with Versamark and white heat embossed, to help me keep inside the lines!  My method - totally amateur - is to scribble a few lines at the base of each petal in the palest colour - and I do mean few - virtually just the width of 2 lines - then a darker shade - another line, then the darkest.  With an aqua brush I then blend these colours out to the tips of each petal.  Not very scientific, I know, but I quite like the result, and I find that by using this technique, I don't often make the mistake of applying too much colour to a flower, which makes it impossible to retain any white highlights.

I should also mention that I used the same card as I would for Copic colouring - just being careful not to apply much water to it.  Those Zig pens are marvellously easy to use!

Here is the inside of my card.

I created a larger than usual card, as it was for a special person, so here are the dimensions if you would like to know them:  card base is 10" x 6.5" or 25.4 x 16.6cm folded at 5".  This is totally arbitrary - I just worked outwards from my feature panel and cut the base accordingly after adding the layers.  The white panel is 4 x 5.5" (10.2 x 14.2cm), the lilac mat is 4.3eighths x5.75" (11.2 x 14.6cm) and the purple mat is 4.75" x 6" (12 x 15.3cm).

I went to my envelope punch board (a great tool for any size envelope) to make a custom envelope, and found 5" x 6.5"  which required me to cut envelope paper to 9.25" square and to punch and score at 4".  I also stamped  flowers on the envelope, to coordinate with my card.

Thanks so much for visiting today - I hope you find a reason to make someone special a card some time soon!

Happy Crafting!
