Recipe Book Tutorial (Part 1)- By Sue Walsh

Hi Everyone

Sue here with tutorial for a recipe journal I have created using the Simple Stories "Homespun" range.  I'll be back next Wednesday with the second installment of the tutorial!

Cut a 12 x 12 sheet of DP from Simple Stories – Daily Grind dp to 6” x 8 1/4”.
This will be the base and adhered to the front of the Journal, leaving a small border of Kraft showing.

Using Die-namics,  By the Letters (lower case) die cut the word ‘recipes’ from black card. Cut the ‘i’ using dp from Homespun.  Adhere this to the base card using an X-Press glue pen.

From the 6” x 6” Homespun paper pad hand cut the decorated doily and adhere just below the die cut ‘recipes’.

Cut banners from the polka dot dp and adhere to the top of the page.

Cut a selection of the images from the paper pack to decorate the bottom of the Journal cover.

Adhere to front of Journal.

To protect the decorated cover I cut the punched side of a page protector and slipped it over the journal cover.  The excess is folded to the inside of the cover.
To secure the left hand open edge I attached two strips of washi tape which wrap around the inside of the journal too.

I made a pocket to adhere over the inside of the front cover using a 7” x 12” piece of dp.  Scoring at 8-4/8”, 8-5/8” and 8-6/8”(concertina folding at these scores just makes a bit of room to slide in a couple of Recipe cards.)
Score and fold ¼” on either side to make a 6-1/2 x 8 “ pocket. Add plenty of High Tac double sided tape to the back of the pocket and adhere to the inside cover of the Journal over the plastic page protector.

Decorate one of the Kraft inserts, using images from paper pack, washi tape.
