"Bookplate Matchbook Tutorial" by Sue Walsh

Hi Everyone

Sue here with a new tutorial for you that uses one of the new Prima Book plate stamps!

  •  Cut a strip of DSP 2.5” wide by 7” long.
  • With the 2.5” along the top score at 1”, 1-1/8”, 1-2/8”, 1-3/8”, 4-1/8”, 4-2/8”.
  • The 1” fold along with the 3 x 1/8” folds forms a front pocket, so make these ‘valley and peak’ folds burnishing well.
  • Add a narrow strip of double-sided tape at either end of the pocket and adhere.
  • Fold along the 4-1/8 and 4-2/8 inch score lines to make front flap.
  • Using an oval scalloped die, die cut a shaped edge for the front flap.
  • Die cut the fresh foliate from orange card and using the glue pen adhere this to the front flap.
  • The bellyband is made using a strip of dp cut at 1-1/4” wide x 6”, with a punched scallop edge. Wrap this loosely around the matchbook adhering the ends at the back.
  • Stamp the sentiment and add a heart embellishment.
  • Stamp 4 bookplate to white card, 2 in orange ink and 2 in pale brown.
  • Trim around the image and cover the back with double sided tape, leaving the protective strip in place.  (These are then ready to be used and just need the protective strip peeling back.)
  • Slip these into the matchbook and add the bellyband.
