Rainy Daze

Hello friends!  Ann here to share with you one of my latest crazes, which I must admit took me totally by surprise!  I am hooked on the Gorjuss girls by Santoro!  They must have been around for quite a while, but totally passed me by, as there are many examples on Pinterest to whet your appetite.  However, I've found them now, and I intend to explore all possibilities with them before I leave them for a while.

They are so cute and delightful to bring to life with colouring, paper piecing or with dies.
For my card, I used a combination of Copic markers, paper piecing and spongeing.
Unfortunately, as I prepare this post I see that this stamp is sold out, but if you'd like to check out the Scrapbook Boutique shop, you'll find loads of other little girls just as cute!  Check out here and here for some examples.  These stamps come in two sizes that I am aware of - this one is just over 10cm, shown here on a 13cm square card but others are smaller, and I have another card on my blog using Little Love with the main image just under 8cm high and it is available, as are so many more.

Steps in making this card:

  • Stamp image on smooth white card, suitable for Copic markers.  My card panel measures 11.5cm square.
  • Stamp dress, boots and hat again on the packaging (or card of your choice) and cut out. I used the packaging, for two reasons - the colour is beautiful, and also Santoro is about re-using and re-cycling, so I should follow their example.  I also added a little shading to the pieces using Prismacolour pencils.
  • Stamp the tie on a scrap of paper and colour it, then cut out.
  • Colour face, arms and hair with your choice of markers
  • Adhere the paper pieced pieces in place, adding the tie to the front of the dress - note that it includes the neck - it was easier that way:)
  • Colour the puddle in pale pink, light blue to suit colouring on card, and also the hearts.
  • This set includes 2 spare hearts and I stamped and coloured 5 of them to add as embellishments.
  • Sponge the background - I first used C1 next to the image, then blended Memento Angel Pink and finally Lulu Lavender to the background.  This was spattered with water drops as the image was in the rain.
  • Mount the image onto 13cm square card - after first cutting a contrast strip of packaging along the bottom.
  • Finally I added some clear Nuvo drops to her hat and puddle.
Thanks so much for visiting today, and I hope you find some lovely crafty time!
