Happy Birthday from Paper Smooches

Hi, it's Ann here with a fun little card wishing someone special a Happy Birthday!

This is how I made the card:

1.  Either use a card A2 size or make your own from white card stock, measuring 14.8 x 21cm folded in half.

2.  Cut another piece of white card stock to cover front - I usually make this a cm or so larger, so that I can trim the edges to fit, making a neater finish.

3.   Tape the Echo Park balloon stencil over this extra white card stock front, sticking the edges down with low tack tape - or sticky notes.  I used 3 different blue distress inks plus spiced marmalade (colours are in the product list below), to sponge the balloons.  Keeping the colour palette limited helps to tie all the elements together.  Because the balloons were not large, I used a finger sponge dauber for this, sponging inwards from the edge of each shape, leaving a little light area to the right of centre of each balloon to create 'roundness'.

4.  Put this piece aside to thoroughly dry, while stamping and colouring your image.  I chose this critter from the Paper Smooches stamp set, Party Posse and only used Copic colours that would coordinate with the balloons to maintain the minimal colour palette.  Fussy cut the critter out, swiping the edges with a black marker to cover the raw edges.  Adhere foam dots behind ready to pop it up on the sentiment panel.

5.  Trim balloon stencilled card to fit card front, and adhere with high tack tape or glue runner.

6.  Stamp and colour another large balloon (here I used the balloon from Paper Smooches set Party Pals) and fussy cut out.

7.  Stamp Happy Birthday, from Paper Smooches set: Sentiment Sampler, in Versafine Onyx Black onto a strip of white card, and adhere to black card, trimmed to fit card front.

8.  Adhere image to white panel at bottom right.

9.  Pop up balloon above image, and either attach a string or draw one freehand.

That is all - you're done, unless you feel like adding a Wink of Stella to the big balloon, as I did!

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
